Pushing / Rolling Hands
Pushing/ Rolling Hands is a two person practice specific to the Internal Martial Arts. The intention of the practice is to help the student train and develop specific skill sets which will further personal and martial development.
The body mechanics developed in the form are used and tested while training techniques or applications in the pushing/ rolling hands format. The skills developed in Pushing/ Rolling Hands are not a means to an end themselves but a crucial stepping stone on the road to developing higher levels of integration.
Push hands training begins with single-hand pushing, two-hand moving-step push hands and progresses to free moving rolling hands practice. During this process both applications from the form and various drills hone and deepen both “ting jin/ listening skill” as well as the understanding of the application of technique and force.
